Table 3-1 Power on/off modes

The power on/off mode is set by DIP switches 2-4 and 2-5, as shown in the table below.

Correct procedures for each power on/off mode are described below.

Standard mode

In this mode, the rear power switch remains on, and power is turned on or off with the front

power switch.

Note:

In this mode, the rear power switch is supposed to remain on. However, if you do turn off the rear power

switch, note that the printer does not turn on if you turn on the front power switch before the rear power

switch. (Turn the rear switch on first; then turn on the front switch.)

Power failure or power plug disconnection

In this mode (DIP switch 2-4 is off), the printer does not automatically turn back on when power

returns after a power failure or after the power cable has been disconnected. Turn the front

switch off and back on. Then printer power is turned on.

Mode Purpose

Standard mode Printer power is turned on and off with the front power switch.

Power switch fixed

mode (power off

Printer power is turned on with the power breaker in the shop or with the power

strip for the POS system, and it is turned off by software command.

IM interlock mode The printer is turned on and off with the power switch on the IM-5*5.

Power switch fixed

The printer can be turned on and off by the procedures for either the power

switch fixed mode or the IM interlock mode.

1. The first time power is turned on for the

printer: First turn on the rear power switch;

then turn on the front power switch.

Turn off only the front power switch.

2. Whenever power is turned on subsequently,

use only the front power switch. (The rear

switch remains on.)
